My Philosophy on College Sports -

On Any Day in College Sports anything can happen.
You can pit a Monster/Powerhouse Program against the "little boys" and most of the time the Powerhouse will walk away with a win. Don't over look those games. Be Watchful, Ever so Watchful because SOMETIMES the "little boys" put one on the Powerhouse.

College Sports is where All the Real Action takes place!

I am by No means a professional analyst and will not pretend to be. As I am not being paid for this I will give you all what I see as a fan.

My Preseason Top 25 College Football 2010-11

Before any Fans get upset this is not a by the numbers Top 25.  This is a Fan of College Football's Top 25.  Yes, I do have a personal Favorite.  I have them ranked a little higher than some and lower than others so I think it works out in the end to be pretty fair.

Preseason Top 25

  1. Alabama - Can't take them down until they are beat - Solid squad all around.
  2. Texas - Iffy position here as 2, 3, and 4 can all be interchanged.  Several changes could move them down quickly.
  3. Ohio State - Looks to field a good ball club again but under the gun to perform as next year Nebraska is added to the mix plus an extra game for the Championship for the Conference.
  4. TCU - Made several teams look silly last year and have the offense and defense to do it again.
  5. Nebraska - Super solid Defense last year and supposedly stronger this year.  Offense should be much stronger and with them leaving the Big 12 will be out to Claim all they can from the South.
  6. Virginia Tech
  7. Oklahoma
  8. Florida
  9. Iowa
  10. Wisconsin
  11. Boise State - Two big games early will tell the tale.  Virginia Tech and Oregon State.  Personally I think that their schedule during the season is so light that it really gives them the edge against the BCS conferences.  The BCS teams have had to muscle it out all season and Boise State has had what I refer to as "Skates".  Boise State players are relatively healthy and pumped up for the "BIG" game.  Those two early games should tell the tale.
  12. Oregon
  13. Pitt
  14. Arkansas
  15. Georgia Tech
  16. Miami
  17. LSU
  18. Cincinnati
  19. Navy
  20. Florida State
  21. Penn St.
  22. Oregon St.
  23. Stanford
  24. Texas A&M
  25. Washington

Surprise teams to watch this season:

Baylor - Baylor has always been a rollover game for several teams over the years; however, they have been steadily improving the last couple of years and except for a couple of Key injuries last year they could have been trouble for some teams.  If players stay healthy expect them to be a possible shocker in the Big 12 South.  Baylor will have an early season challenge playing TCU.  Don't underestimate the Bears in this one.  If they can pull out a Win the South is in Trouble.

Expect an 8-4 or 9-3 season before the Bowl games

Boston College - Returning a "Heart of the Team" player from a Serious Fight with the Big "C" (cancer), give any tight game edge to the Eagles.  Two big games early for the Eagles: Virginia Tech and Notre Dame (both at home).

Expect an 9-3 season before the Bowl games

Arizona - Yeah they got chewed up by my Huskers in their Bowl game but expect them to stand up to Oregon and Oregon St. in the PAC-10 this year.

Expect an 8-4 season but to be a spoiler for Oregon in November then on to a Bowl.

UTEP - Yes, the University of Texas El Paso Miners.  They have the Offense to put a scare in some big schools  but the defense has been lacking.  I know I live here in El Paso and am a Fan of the Underdog.  UTEP may always be one of my underdog/surprises.  If UTEP pulls together a tight defense look for them to control Conf. USA.  UTEP's Big game of the season comes near the end of the season when they play out of conference against Arkansas on November 13th.

If UTEP finds and solidifies the Defense this year Expect 11-2 record going into the Bowl season.
No Defense and Expect 7-5 going to a Bowl

  1. Oklahoma at number 7... ouch! But then they do know how to choke at the last minute.

  2. Good call on Baylor! They've been doing well (with the exception of last week). I went to Texas A&M, and they have certainly been a pleasant surprise the past couple of weeks. Hoping they continue the dominant defense and adequate offense this weekend!
